Jet Steel finished a promising second on his only start in a point to point, bumping into a very well-prepped Gina Andrews-trained representative that went on to fetch 90,000gns at the Cheltenham April Sale.
He made much of the running that day and was still right there at the second-last, before tiring on the run-in – they were the only two in the race from some way out. My son Ed was riding him that day and was really complimentary about him afterwards, saying he felt like a very nice horse in the making and suggesting there is a good deal of improvement to come. The race was run in a time 15 seconds faster than the restricted on the same card, and there’s every reason to think it was a smart piece of form.
He is a good-looking, athletic individual by a high-class sire, and out of a Bob Back mare from a family with plenty of success both over jumps and on the flat.
He looks to have the requisite speed to make his mark in a bumper, before coming into his own over hurdles and fences in time – we hope he can make up into a very useful novice hurdler next term.
He is available to purchase for £30,000 + VAT, which represents outstanding value for a four year old with proven form between the flags, and the potential to go on and become a Saturday horse under rules.
