REINA-DEL-MAR-

REINA DEL MAR [IRE]

2018 bay mare by Awtaad (Ire) ex Star Approval (Ire)

This classy, athletic mare has recorded a lifetime best Racing Post Rating of 96 on the flat and has shown plenty in her five starts over hurdles in Ireland to suggest she can make up into a useful performer in the UK.

As recently as last summer, she was running very well in defeat in €100,000 handicaps on the flat off marks in the high 80s. She finished runner-up on her hurdling debut in November, behind a mare that went on to finish second at Listed level, and would surely have gone very close on her next start, but for a final hurdle blunder.

Her most recent effort, when fifth of 15 at Leopardstown, came in a warm event and she looks the type to excel on a sound surface over here, with lots of options for her in the coming months.

Officially rated 110 in Ireland, she will have a mark of around 114-116 here and can win her races in novice company before we look to some nice handicaps for her further down the line.

MINI-YEATS-

MINI YEATS [IRE]

2017 grey gelding by Yeats (Ire) ex Rocapella (Ire)

By YEATS four-time Ascot Gold Cup winner and sire of Grade 1 winners Flooring Porter (2021 Paddy Power Stayers Hurdle) and Chantry House (2021 Betway Mildmay Novices Chase).

Out of ROCAPELLA, an unraced half-sister to Arcalis (dual Grade 1 winner of the Supreme Novices Hurdle and the Fighting Fifth Hurdle). From the family of Group 1 winner and sire, Sharpset.

Mini Yeats has been a consistent horse which remains a maiden, he is now off a mark of 80 and I feel he is well handicapped and a winner waiting to happen. He is sure to make an improvement for a step up in trip and with the options of switching from hurdles to fences. He is versatile when it comes to ground and looks well handicapped of old form.

A good fun club horse which is often in the placings and provides fun for all involved with him.
