PHOTO-2022-02-05-15-47-00Le Milos is a real favourite in the yard, having joined as a three year old back in 2018, so we were all overjoyed to see him win a big prize at Sandown Park yesterday under an excellent ride from Alan Johns.

Le Milos has done nothing but improve since sent chasing and was a ready winner at Exeter on New Year’s Day off a mark of 130.  A subsequent 9lbs rise demanded plenty more, as did the step up in grade for yesterday’s race.  It was a very competitive affair, as  one would expect given the £50,000 prize-money on offer, but Le Milos made light of his rise in the handicap with another bold front-running success, his jumping once again winning the day.

He was particularly good over the Railway fences and was travelling as well as any on the turn for home.  However, he had three persistent challengers from then on, and he really had to dig very deep to hold off the eventual runner-up Deise Aba, who had won the previous two renewals of this race.

I can’t imagine the handicapper will be too hard on him, given the proximity of the placed horses, but he’ll be into the low 140’s now and we’ll have to have a good think about where he goes next.  I’m delighted for his great bunch of owners in Bovian Racing, who are really living the dream now with Le Milos, who has come a long way since being purchased out of a claimer in France as a three year old!
