PHOTO-2022-03-24-16-58-21 copyWe were delighted to land a double at Chepstow yesterday, with Silver In Disguise and Timely Gift returning to winning ways.

Silver In Disguise (pictured above) had finished second to a big improver at Exeter on New Year’s Day (Chambard, who went on to win the Kim Muir!), so he looked on a good mark, now 4lbs lower.  Back on better ground and stepped up in trip, he stayed every yard of the 3m6.5f to win well under Alan Johns.

Though his two successes last year came over shorter trips, we have long thought he would be at his best when stamina is at a premium and this success should give him plenty of opportunities in the future, particularly next term.

He is likely to have another run this year before going out on a summer break, but I am very hopeful that we will see further improvement from his next year and it would be lovely to see him win a nice prize.  Congratulations to his owners John and Nigel!

Timely Gift (pictured right) had finished third on his last three starts, so it was very pleasing to see him gain a well-deserved success, the first-time cheekpieces seemingly bringing about some improvement, while the return to better ground may well have helped as well.

He saw out his race really well under a good ride from Charlie Price and he is capable of building on this success, as he’ll remain off a workable mark.  Congratulations to his owners Carl, JJ, Chris, Mike, John and Hugh!
