We had been hoping for rain at Market Rasen all week to boost the chances of Stewart’s House, but though our prayers were answered on the one hand, him missing out on getting in the race by just one place rather dampened the mood!

With the summer weather seemingly having disappeared already I am sure there will be further opportunties for him, but one half of the Double Trouble partnership still had something to cheer about at the weekend, with the victory of Saved By John at Newton Abbot (photo shown with kind permission of Fiona Crawford). Bought privately from Ireland in May for Steve Clarke, he joined us a maiden under rules, but made no mistake at the first time of asking on Sunday, winning comfortably under Richard Johnson. I am sure he is capable of improving on that performance and he could be set for a very good season.

I was very pleased with the performance of Sinadinou in the juvenile hurdle, who jumped proficiently and is surely capable of winning in that sphere in the coming months, and I am sure Coedmor Boy, who ran in the same race, can improve once learning to settle better through his races.
