A fantastic evening at Hereford for the yard with three winners courtesy of Tara Warrior, Piment d’Estruval and Oscar Sierra.

Tara Warrior had just been pipped at Stratford last week which had signalled a real return to form back from a break anbd he built on that in what looked a slightly weaker contest under a strong ride from Michael Byrne, who is well worth his 8lbs claim in these races. The handicapper is sure to have his say but I would be hopeful he can be very competitive off a revised mark.

Piment d’Estruval was returning from a break and won really well in the handicap chase. The race looked to rather fall apart as they went quick early and Richard Johnson sensibly held him up well off the pace, but it was a very pleasing performance and he appears to remain on the upgrade.

The last winner of the night was certainly unexpected, with Oscar Sierra improving markedly on his previous form to win what had looked a competitive little novice hurdle under conditional jockey Rob Kirk. Though he was getting weight all round it was obviously a big step forward!

Truckers Benefit was our final runner of the night and he ran an excellent race in defeat in the bumper on his debut under rules – a really promising run and a great way to round off the evening.

We have a big team of horses for the weekend’s four jumps meetings and I am hopeful that we can emulate this evening’s successes!
