Multiple winning pointer Tachbury had some very unappealing form to his name in novice hurdles back in 2009, but those successes in points since had suggested he would have the ability to figure off a low mark back under rules and he duly gained a narrow success at Fontwell Park on his first start for the yard.

Held up in the early stages by Richard Johnson, he made rapid progress through the field to join the front-running favourite with a circuit to go, the pair almost inseparable from that point on. Thankfully, Tachbury proved very game under pressure and, despite a mistake at the last, he had enough reserves to hold off the persistent challenge of the runner-up. Congratulations to his owner Julie Williams!
His point form suggests he is best fresh, so he won’t be rushed out again and we’ll look for something next month.
