We headed to Aintree on Friday afternoon full of hope for Stewarts House in the Grand Sefton the following day and were rewarded with a fantastic performance from the horse off the highest mark he has ever run off, as he kept on really gamely under a terrific ride from Aidan Coleman to win by a head in a very narrow finish.

Having travelled well throughout, he went to the front three out but was joined by the eventual runner-up at the last and had to battle all the way to the line.

It was a real thrill for all concerned to win such an historic race and I am delighted for his owners Steve Clarke and Dom Wallis of the Double Trouble Partnership.

Looking ahead, Stewarts House has two options on December 27th, in the Welsh National and in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown, which carries a prize-money purse of 190,000 Euro – he has come out of the race really well and we’ll make a decision on where we go next with him in the coming week.
