It is not too often I find myself looking through the Dubai Carnival racing programme but Steed (pictured left, Kevin O’Hare), who has kindly been sent to us by Justin & Rebecca Byrne of EERC, is being prepared for a tilt at some big handicap prizes in the UAE in the coming months and will begin his campaign at Kempton Park in a 7f Listed event next week.

It was a pleasure to welcome rugby legends Simon Easterby and Stephen Jones to the yard this morning to see their horse Ski Sunday in action on the gallops. His chasing debut at Exeter last week didn’t go at all to plan but he had schooled exceptionally well prior to that and I am hoping that his rather erratic round of jumping can be put down to a shoe going missing in the early stages of the contest!

A good-quality day’s racing tomorrow, with racing at Ascot (where we have My Moment in the handicap chase) and Haydock Park, with Butler in the Listed novice hurdle and Eligible in the junior bumper. The former has schooled very well and looks an exciting prospect for the season ahead, while Eligible is a very nice horse who went close on his debut at Fontwell Park recently and I am hopeful he can get his head in front this time.
