The sporting focus switches from Royal Ascot to tennis, as the annual Strawberries-and-cream-fest that is Wimbledon gets underway today.

After Rory McIlroy’s brilliant maiden Major success in the US Open yesterday, all eyes will be on Andy Murray at the All England Club as he bids to emulate McIlroy get his first Slam on the board. Though perhaps a little more abrasive than his young golfing counterpart, for these two weeks of the year Murray is a racket-wielding deity, and I’m sure I will be tuning in to witness the unbridled hysteria of centre court at some stage!

We have a couple of new additions to the team today, with Michael Byrne and Robert Kirk both joining us full-time. Both have ridden with success under rules and I am delighted to have them here.

A much nicer morning today, and a good opportunity to school a few of the horses again. Pictured above-left is Reality Show (Tom David) and former Irish pointer Truckers Benefit (Michael Byrne) going through their paces, and left is Hucking Hero (currently for sale and entered to run this week – more information on the ‘Horses for sale’ page) under Jason Kiely.
