Two days in Doncaster at the DBS September Sale await on Wednesday and Thursday, while we have also been putting the finishing touches to our 2015/16 Horses in Training brochure, which goes to print later this week.
Though we were unable to add to our tally of 22 winners so far this season on Bank Holiday monday, Richard Johnson recorded a double that has seen him reach the 75-winner mark for the campaign and pull exactly 30 winners clear in the Jockeys’ Championship.
Richard continues to ride at the top of his game and hopefully we’ll be supplying him with a few more winners this month.
The four year old Bassarabad (pictured right, schooling earlier this week) is our sole runner at Worcester tomorrow evening (7.40pm) and it will be interesting to see how he gets on now in handicap company for the first time after a good break since his last run back in January, whilst Nellie The Elegant (3.10pm) and the returning Jimmy Shan (3.40pm) head to Southwell.
I thought Victoria Pendleton rode a sound tactical race on her first ride under rules at Ripon yesterday and, having got so close, it’s a shame she wasn’t able to hold on, as it would have made for an incredible story! However, I am sure she will continue to gain experience and it will be fascinating to see if she can make it to the Foxhunters at Cheltenham in March. If you missed the race, click here to view.
