The horses continue in excellent form and I was delighted to see two smart winning performances in novice company yesterday.

Satellite was a very smart performer on the flat last year, finishing second off a mark of 90 on his final start for Willie Haggas in September.  Purchased at the October Sales and now in the colours of Paul and Louise Bowtell, he showed he has real potential in his new career with a battling success on his second outing over hurdles under Tom Cannon, who was riding his first winner for us.

He jumped very well in the main and showed an excellent attitude to get the better of a protracted duel up the home straight, winning by just under two lengths.  He is now likely to have a break over the summer, with a view to returning for an autumn/winter campaign in which I hope he can make up into a Graded performer.

Lamool (pictured right, winning at Aintree last year) has been an absolute star for us in recent seasons and he brought his record for the yard to six wins from 11 starts with an authoritative success at Sedgefield, shrugging off a double penalty to win by 14 lengths.

He is a tremendously consistent individual, always tries his heart out and once again hurdled very slickly, gradually drawing clear up the home straight to win in style under Alan Johns.

He has now won four novice hurdles this season, which is no mean feat, and will return to handicap company over the summer, during which I hope he can prove capable of landing a nice prize for owners Jeff and Rachel Frost.
