Exciting novice hurdler Rev It Up took another step forward at Chepstow on Saturday in what has been a fantastic season so far, rallying up the Chepstow hill to share the spoils in the 3m handicap hurdle.

The former Irish pointer has quickly become a favourite with many racing fans following gutsy wins in novice hurdles at Chepstow and Ffos Las and he excelled himself on quicker ground than ideal when finishing 2nd in the Grade 2 Bristol Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham earlier this month.

Back on his favoured heavy ground, he was in front virtually throughout the contest before getting headed after a slightly untidy jump at the last, but he rallied very gamely in the final furlong under a strong ride from Aidan Coleman to get his nose level on the line. It was a tremendous finish and a real treat for the bumper Welsh National day crowd. The River Don novice hurdle remains the plan for him.
