Screen Shot 2017-09-04 at 11.08.44We have had a quiet couple of months on the racecourse, but we couldn’t be busier in the yard as we approach the start of the autumn campaign and it was a pleasure to see Panis Angelicus get us off the mark for September when returning to winning ways at Newton Abbot yesterday.

A dual winner over hurdles in 2015, he just hadn’t been in the same form since, but the handicapper relenting combined with the drop in grade saw him back to form, though he was undoubtedly aided by a very strong ride from Alan Johns, as well as a last-flight blunder by the favourite and eventual runner-up, On Alberts Head.

Given the manner of victory, the handicapper is unlikely to be too harsh on him and hopefully the confidence gained from getting his head in front again can see him follow up next time.  Congratulations to his owners in the Oceans Racing syndicate!
