Oscars Den is the first horse we have had in training for owner Zorka Wentworth and I was delighted to be present to see the ex-Irish pointer make a very pleasing rules debut yesterday, winning the bumper at Lingfield Park in good style.

Runner-up in what looked a strong contest on his only start in an Irish point at Glenbane in October, he is a lovely, scopey son of Oscar and would not have been suited by the very steady gallop.  However, in a race that turned into a sprint I believe his class saw him through and he is a fantastic prospect for the future.

Earlier on the card, Christmas Cracker looked in need of the experience when finishing down the field in the mares’ bumper.  A well-bred daughter of Flemensfirth, she should come on plenty for the run and is capable of much better.
