Having her first start since April, Oriental Cross made a winning seasonal reappearance with a typically game effort at Ffos Las under Charlie Price.
The eight-year-old was prominent throughout, jumping well, and was sent to the front on the home bend. Some fine jumps up the straight helped matters considerably and she found enough to repel the persistent challenge of the eventual runner-up.
She has been a lovely mare for her owners, John and Nigel, and this was her fifth career success in her 19 career starts.
The handicapper shouldn’t be too hard on her for that win and, given she handles plenty of cut in the ground, there should be lots of options for her in the weeks ahead.
