Having shown promise on his hurdling debut at Ludlow last month, Number One London duly built on that and made the most of what looked a good opportunity to make his second start over jumps a winning one at Newton Abbot yesterday.

Settled in rear in the early stages by Richard Johnson, the pair made headway in the back straight on the final circuit and came with a strong challenge rounding the home bend.  Sent on at the second-last, he kept on very well and stayed every yard of the 2m5f trip, holding of the challenge of a 115-rated runner-up.

Richard was very pleased with him and he looks a nice prospect to go handicapping this summer/autumn, with the possibility of reverting to the flat for a staying handicap at some stage.
