We were delighted to purchase two tremendously exciting prospects at the Newmarket October Horses In Training Sale last week!

The first of them was Satellite, a four year old son of Danehill Dancer and a three-parts brother to this year’s Oaks winner Qualify (by Fastnet Rock, a son of Danehill).  He has been very progressive this autumn and has shown a real liking for soft ground the last twice.  Runner-up off a mark of 90 over 1m4f at Newbury last time, he has settled in well and will be schooled up with a view to making his debut over hurdles at the end of the month for his new owners Paul and Louise Bowtell.

Spectator was our second and final purchase of the week.  Also a four year old, he hails from a classy and progressive family, with his brother Side Glance winning a Group 1 in Australia at the age of six and his half-brother Taglietelle has developed into a very useful hurdler in Ireland.

A thorough stayer on the flat and at home on soft ground, all being well he too should be ready to run at the end of the month.  Spectator is for sale, with further details available here!

Having seen Mist The Boat go close earlier in the afternoon at Ludlow on Monday, Benability looked set to win the second race of his career over at Plumpton and, in doing so, provide our new conditional George Blackwell with a first NH winner, only to duck out at the final flight.

Thankfully, both horse (who jumped the next hurdle on his own!) and jockey were absolutely fine afterwards and it was just one of those things.  A late-developing son of Beneficial, Benability is definitely going the right way and hopefully he can make amends very soon for his owner Louise Bowtell, while George had given him an excellent ride to that point and hopefully he will come in for plenty opportunities in the coming months, as he is a very promising young rider with experience, and a winner for Charlie Hills, already under his belt.
