We ran two up at Perth over the course of their two-day meeting and, though Bennachie found one too good on Monday, we were delighted to come home with a winner yesterday courtesy of Makethedifference, who got off the mark on his fourth start for us under Michael Byrne.
He had run with promise on his latest outing at Market Rasen and, in what looked a weaker contest, he came with a strong challenge to take up the running at the last, fending off the persistent challenge of the eventual runner-up to win by just over a length.
He has an entry at Stratford on Monday and we may look to run him under a penalty there. Congratulations to his owner Brian Jones.
CHEPSTOW JUMPS FESTIVAL PREVIEW NIGHT
Chepstow will be hosting a Jumps Festival Preview Night on Friday 9th October from 7pm.
It should be an informative evening, looking ahead to the Jumps Festival at the course on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th October, which kicks off the National Hunt season at our local course. Tim will be on the panel, alongside Jockeys’ Championship leader Richard Johnson.
Outside of the £120,000 Coral Welsh Grand National, the Jumps Festival features the best races of the year at the course, with more than £250,000 of prize money over the two days.
On the panel with Tim and Richard is Mark Pearson, the Head of Media from Betfred/Tote, as well as Chepstow on-course bookmaker Andy Smith. The host on the night is BBC Wales and Attheraces presenter Aly Rowell.
The evening will start from 7pm, and tickets for the night are £29. This includes entry to the preview, a one course buffet, and a ticket for the Grandstand & Paddock enclosure on the Sunday to watch some fantastic racing, including the Persian War Novices Hurdle, in which we may look to run Lamool.
