Tanit River crossing the line in front

Tanit River looks a fast-improving young hurdler as, 11 days on from a first career success at Warwick, he followed up in good style at Chepstow yesterday afternoon.

Held up in rear by Alan Johns, who had also been on board at Warwick, Tanit River settled noticeably better than has been the case in his previous starts, though undoubtedly the strong early gallop helped.

Though there is still room for improvement in the jumping department, he produced good jumps all the way up the home straight, allowing himself to get to the front approaching the last, which he walked through!  However, he didn’t lose any momentum and was well on top at the line.

Having escaped a penalty for his Warwick win, life will be tougher for him when he next appears, but he looks likely to progress further as he steps up in trip and there is plenty to look forward to with him.  Congratulations to his owners Martin Moore and Brian Ead!
