Ifan after his win

Ifan after his win

We are now just two days of the start of the new National Hunt season (Towcester having been abandoned on Thursday), but we did have a runner on the flat at Brighton yesterday and it was a worthwhile journey, with Ifan recording his second win at the unique track in good style.

Settled in third in the early stages, he came with a strong challenge three furlongs out and, hitting the front two furlongs from home, he showed his typically game attitude to repel the challenge of the runner-up.

I thought he was given a very accomplished ride by Mitch Godwin, who was riding the fifth winner of his career. Based with Richard Hannon, I am sure we will be hearing plenty more about him in the months ahead and he is one to watch out for on the flat.

Congratulations to his owners WRB Racing 61, and Derek & Jean Clee!
