Twasn't The Plan 1

Twasn’t The Plan (Ire)

2013 bay gelding by Presenting (GB) ex Gentle Alice (Ire) (Beneficial (GB))

A six year old son of leading National Hunt sire Presenting, Twasn’t The Plan has shown a very promising level of form both in Irish points and on his rules debut earlier this month, and looks a tremendous prospect to go hurdling this season.

He put up a great round of front-running jumping on his second start in an Irish point in November, before just getting a little tired late on and fading from the last. He joined us earlier in the spring and had been working nicely prior to finishing a good third on his bumper debut at Warwick in May, the form of which looks very solid.

Though a little keen in front, he kept on galloping resolutely all the way to the line and looks sure to come on plenty for the experience – I am very hopeful that he can go and win a bumper on his next outing, but it is over hurdles (and fences in time) that his future lies this season.

A first foal, his dam won over two miles over hurdles, but developed into a very useful chaser, placing on three occasions at Graded level at 2m4f-2m6f. A daughter of top sire Beneficial (also very much established as a leading broodmare sire, including Grade 1 winners Waiting Patiently and The Worlds End), she is out of a half-sister to smart bumper performer/hurdler Cloudy Grey. The Presenting – Beneficial cross has proved a prolific one, with six multiple winners from nine runners.

Presentings tend to go very well on good ground and Twasn’t The Plan looks no exception, so we’ll keep him going over the summer and look to win his bumper before sending him over hurdles – he looks just the type to run up a sequence in novice company and, at £30,000, rates outstanding value for a six year old who could easily develop into a Saturday horse over fences next season.
