Court Cave

2016 bay gelding by Court Cave (Ire) ex Royale Video (Fr) (Video Rock (Fr))

A strong, scopey three year old, this good-moving sort is a son of the excellent Court Cave, who boasts an impressive winners to runners strike-rate and whose progeny include the likes of Grade 1 Festival winners City Island Willoughby Court.

Court Cave has a particularly good record with French damsires, with several among his leading performers, including Mister Whitaker (a dual Graded winner at Cheltenham), the aforementioned City Island (who won the Ballymore at the Festival this year), and this one’s damsire is the top-class Video Rock, whose exceptional record as a damsire includes numerous top-class Grade 1 winning stayers, including Notre Pere, Sir Des Champs, Valseur Lido, as well as our Aintree Grade 1 winner Saint Are – indeed, this one’s dam was bred by Saint Are’s breeder Jacques Cypres.

There is lots to like on the damside, as he is a half-brother to Campeador, who looked likely to win the Fred Winter in 2016 but for a last-flight fall, but went on to reach the frame at Grade 1 level, recording a Racing Post Rating of 154.

The dam is a half-sister to two winners and hails from a top-class family, being out of a Cadoudal mare who was a half-sister to two top-class performers in France, notably Royal Chance, who won just about every top-class race there is to win.

He is a really exciting prospect and we’ll get him broken in now before he has a good spell in the paddocks.  We’ll look to start him back in training at the end of August, with a view to running in a bumper shortly after the New Year.  At just £24,000 + VAT (includes all sales costs, commissions, vetting and transport), he rates outstanding value and I was delighted to be able to secure him.

PRICE: £24,000 + VAT (includes all costs to 1st July 2019)
