Hazm 1

2015 brown colt by Shamardal (USA) ex Hikari (Ire) (Galileo (Ire))

A strong, good-moving three year old, this unraced colt looks an exciting bumper/hurdling prospect, boasting an excellent pedigree with winners under both codes.

A son of the excellent flat sire Shamardal, he was in high demand at the sales both as a foal and yearling, fetching 220,000gns on the first occasion and 725,000gns a year later. A first foal, he is out of a filly that won her maiden by 15 lengths over an extended 1m3f on her second career start, before finishing fourth in Listed company. Being out of a Galileo mare, Hazm is bred on the same cross as the likes of Group 2 King Edward VII winner Balios and recent Qipco Champion Stakes third Subway Dancer.

Whilst smart herself, Hazm’s dam Hikari is related to four winners on the flat (including a Group 3 winner) at up to two miles, as well as being a full sister to two winners over jumps.

We will give him a fortnight in the paddocks now before getting him into training and I would be very hopeful that he would be ready to start off in a bumper towards the end of January. I thought he was exceptional value.
