Dance and Romance

2012 bay mare by Kayf Tara ex Sweetheart (Sinndar)

Boasting an outstanding pedigree and still just a five year old, this daughter of Kayf Tara is currently on a rating of 81 and looks to have a significant amount of progression in her this season.

Her dam Sweetheart developed into a really smart hurdler, winning the Grade 2 Mares’ Hurdle at Ascot in 2010 a six year old, despite having looked exposed as a mid-60s horse on the flat earlier in her career. Given the progression that Kayf Tara’s progeny tend to make with age, it is reasonable to expect a good deal more from this mare, who demonstrated ability on several occasions last term, finishing in the first four twice in recent starts, including when finishing third at Sedgefield in February.

Dance And Romance was given a break by her connections since her latest run in April, and she looked really well at the sale, so has clearly thrived with the recent weather. We will give her another three to four weeks at grass before bringing her into training, with a view to starting off in September.

With both the dam and the dam’s half-brother having black-type and being by the leading sire Kayf Tara, Dance And Romance already has a good paddock value and this would only be enhanced when she adds wins to her CV. She goes well on soft ground and, given the really strong mares’ programme that exists now, we will be looking to target her at some nice mares’ handicaps over the winter. She is available for purchase at £9,000 + VAT, which includes all sales costs and represents outstanding value.
