2011 bay gelding by Brian Boru ex Dandouce (Danzero)

PRICE: 10% Shares at £1,300 + £195 a month

A really likeable and scopey individual by a sire we have had a lot of success with (Be Bop Boru, Looksnowtlikebrian winning 10 races between them), Danboru looks a really well-handicapped horse for the season ahead.

A winner on his sole start in Irish points just over a year ago, he was amateur-ridden on his first four starts under rules, finishing an eye-catching fourth on his debut over fences last May. Given a break over the winter, he returned with two runs in the spring, finishing a close second on his latest outing on what was just his second start in handicap company.

He was set plenty to do on that occasion, but stayed on very well to the line in the manner of a horse that will get further than the two and a half miles, which opens up a lot of options over here. Furthermore, his previous trainer has had just 7 winners from his last 250 runners over the past two seasons at a strike-rate of under 3% and Danboru looks a classic candidate to improve markedly for a change of scenery.

We will give him a couple of weeks in the paddocks to give him a chance to flush his system and settle in, before coming into training towards the end of the month with a view to making his debut for us in the autumn. A fluent jumper, he has the potential to blossom as a staying novice handicapper over here this season.
