Cape Hideaway

2012 bay gelding by Mount Nelson ex Amiata (Pennekamp)

PRICE: £900 for 10% share (then £195 a month training fees from 1st October)

A tough, consistent six year old, Cape Hideaway looked outstanding value at the Goffs August Sale and he looks a really fun dual-purpose performer for the season ahead.

He is already a three-time winner, the latest of them in a soft-ground handicap on the flat at Doncaster in March, but his latest second at Aintree in June is probably the best effort of his career to date over hurdles and he even looked a little unlucky not to win, having made a mistake at the second-last flight when initially coming to challenge.

That performance certainly suggests that there is more to come from this son of Mount Nelson, whose progeny stay very well, and his versatility as regards ground is another big plus.

Having been on the go for a good while, we will give him plenty of time to settle in, with three or four weeks in the paddocks before he comes into full training, with a view to an autumn/winter campaign over hurdles. Looking further ahead, we also have the option of going novice handicap chasing in the early part of next year.
