2014 bay gelding by Arcadio ex Peggy Maddock (Oscar)

This son of the excellent young sire Arcadio was one of the standout lots on the second day of the Goffs Land Rover Sale, a particularly athletic and racy individual with an outstanding pedigree.

The fifth foal of an Oscar mare from the family of Grade 1 winner Feathered Leader and RSA Hurdle winner Ten Plus, this exciting three year old is a half-brother to the high-class Marinero, who won on his debut as a March 4yo and has since won five times, as well as finishing second to Thistlecrack over fences, in doing so achieving a Racing Post Rating of 143.

The pedigree looks sure to gain further black type with the six year old half-sister Tellthemnuttin, who recorded a career-high RPR of 139 when bolting up over hurdles on her latest start.  The winner of six of her 20 starts to date, she looks a high-class mare in the making and is being targeted at the Galway Festival.

Arcadio is one of the most exciting young National Hunt sires of the moment, getting his first Grade 1 winner at Aintree in April and with several useful-looking crops to come.  He tends to get quite precocious individuals that come to hand earlier than most, and I thought this one was one of the best I have seen by that sire.

He has now been broken in and has loked an absolute natural in everything he has done so far.  He is now enjoying a spell in the paddocks, with a view to coming into training in mid-September.  On pedigree and physique, he is bred to make his debut on the track as a spring four year old and that will very much be the aim.

There are three 1/4 shares remaining in the unnamed Arcadio, priced at £7,500 + VAT each, plus training fees.  If you are interested in further information, please contact Tim on 01446 771626 or email
