2013 bay gelding by Archipenko ex Akka (Hernando)

A very athletic individual, this three year old was in fine form in France this summer/autumn, winning three of his last four starts since joining his current yard, the latest of them in very good style in an extended 1m4f handicap in October.  He has a mark of 73 in the UK and, given the progress he has made on the flat in recent months, there could well be more to come.

He is bred to stay well, being by Archipenko (a son of Kingmambo) and out of a Hernando mare, herself from an Aga Khan family that seems to love going hurdling.  The first foal of his dam, she is a half-sister to a dual winner (RPR117) and a five-time winner (123) over hurdles, as well as being half-sister to the dam of five winning hurdlers, themselves out of a half-sister to 135, 137 and 146 performers over jumps.

Having been a 10-race maiden for his first trainer in France, he made giant strides for the second, winning his maiden over 1m4f before showing the speed to cope with a drop back in trip on his next outing in handicap company in August.  He looked very unlucky not to record the hat-trick on his next outing, having a troubled passage from the back off a slow pace, but he returned to winning ways with a very easy win in handicap company on his latest outing, looking to have plenty left in the tank at the end.

Akkapenko certainly has the pedigree for jumping and his form at 1m2f-1m4.5f shows not only that he has the stamina to stay, but also he has shown in his races a turn of foot as well and he looks a lovely juvenile hurdle prospect.

He has filled out since joining us, has worked well and schools brilliantly, so we are very pleased with him.  He is ready to run and looks an exciting juvenile hurdle prospect and outstanding value at £27,500 + VAT.
