Groomed has taken really well to chasing and he won his second race from three starts over the larger obstacles with a game success in the novice handicap chase at Ffos Las yesterday.
Held up in the early stages, he made steady headway through the second half of the race and, though a couple of mistakes at the last two made life difficult for him, he kept on really well to win under Richard Johnson, providing us with our 81st winner of the season!
We also took four to Ffos Las for a racecourse gallop, with Pertemps Final entry First Fandango pleasing in his work under Jason Kiely. He led home Nash Point, a half-brother to Welsh National winner Monbeg Dude and I was delighted with the way he went about it all on what was his first experience of the racecourse. Owned by Gary and Sharon Pesticcio (for whom Nash Point is their first experience as owners) in partnership with Graham and Lynne Handley, he should be out in the next two to three weeks and Michael Byrne was very complimentary about him.
I was also very pleased with the other pairing of unraced bumper prospects Balotti (the Balotti Partnership), ridden by Bradley Gibbs and Multimax (Ken Hodges) and they too should not be far off making their debuts.
