Having disappointed on her first start for us late last season, I was very pleased with Great Oak’s win at Hexham yesterday in the mares’ novice hurdle for owner Monica O’Sullivan, who has been a fantastic supporter of the yard.

A useful chaser in her native Ireland, she was a Grade 3 winner over fences last term but remained a maiden over hurdles until now.

It was a very good opportunity as she was clear on ratings and it was a straightforward victory, jumping very well throughout and showing a really pleasing attitude.  She will be kept in over the summer and I hope she can win another couple of novices before stepping up in grade later in the season.
