Alan Johns and The Omen jumping the last at Worcester yesterday

The horses are in terrific form at present and, on his chasing debut at Worcester yesterday, The Omen became the fifth winner from our last 12 runners (with a further three finishing second!).

Perhaps a little unlucky not to get off the mark on his debut for the yard back in June, he had placed on a couple of occasions since but, on his first start over the larger obstacles and coming into the race a 16-race maiden, it is fair to say the performance was a little unexpected, as he jumped fluently and travelled well in front and readily drew clear after the last for a comfortable success.

Given the manner of victory, he should have a good chance of following up, although the handicapper get the chance to have his say first!

Only one runner today, with Bells Of Castor (5.30 Newton Abbot) making his racecourse debut in what looks a competitive little bumper.
