We sent a team of four to Market Rasen yesterday and I was delighted to come away with a winner, Gallox Bridge proving much too good for his rivals in the novice chase on what was his debut over the larger obstacles.
A horse with plenty of natural ability, he had run very well in two handicap hurdles earlier this season and, racing with customary enthusiasm, he jumped very well en route to a 14-length success for his owner David Fox.
We will wait to see what the handicapper does before making any plans for the future, but I hope he can build on this very promising start and there could be a nice day in him later this season.
Koultas King (2nd) and Ballymoat (4th) both went in the 2m5f novice handicap hurdle and I was really pleased with their runs on ground that would have been plenty soft enough for the pair of them. Both really deserve to find an opening and, granted better ground, I am confident they can get their heads in front in the near future.
