Simon Clare and Normandy King

We took a group of youngsters to Kempton Park on Friday, giving them – and a certain Coral PR Director – a valuable opportunity to gain some experience!

Simon Clare (pictured right, on The 600 Club’s Normandy King) will be riding in the St Patrick’s Derby at the Cheltenham Festival on Thursday 12th March and is raising money for The Injured Jockey Fund (

Debece, a four year old by Kayf Tara

His riding has clearly come a long way in a very short space of time, as he looked relaxed in the preliminaries and was then confident enough to give Richard Johnson et al a lead around the first circuit!

Normandy King was one of six we took to Kempton, with the others being Debece (pictured left, 4yo by Kayf Tara), Renfrew (5yo by Robin Des Pres), Looksnowtlikebrian (4yo by Brian Boru), Presenting Red (5yo by Presenting) and Time On Your Hands (5yo by Beneficial).

It was a really worthwhile trip and great experience for the youngsters, while it was a pleasure to be joined by the owners of Normandy King and Looksnowtlikebrian.

Following runners-up at Doncaster on Saturday (Wings Of Smoke) and Sedgefield yesterday (Oskar’s Eva), we have four runners this afternoon:

Ashkoun (2.30pm Fakenham), Royale Django (3.20pm Southwell), Essteepee (4.30pm Fakenham) and Tidestream (4.50pm Southwell).
