After a frustrating fortnight during which we had several go close without winning, it was a relief to see a double recorded at Ffos Las yesterday evening, with Caspian Piper recording a second successive win and Be Bop Boru bouncing back to his best.Having bolted up at Uttoxeter on just his second start for us, Caspian Piper had a considerably harder task yesterday, having been raised a whopping 17lbs by the handicapper.  Thankfully, his jumping was once again very fluent and that ultimately proved the difference, as Richard Johnson asked for a big leap at the last when strongly challenged and, with the runner-up making a slight mistake, the pair were never in danger in the final half-furlong.

The win provided owners Oceans Racing with a fantastic fourth success of the current season and they have an exciting team for the year ahead.

Be Bop Boru is a real favourite in the yard and he still seems to be improving at the age of eight, yesterday’s win looking a career-best effort off a mark of 118.  Always travelling well and jumping fluently in rear, he came to challenge at the top of the straight and, hitting the front before two out, eventually drew clear to win by five lengths.  Things will be tougher for him once re-assessed, but he has an excellent attitude and we may yet look to try him over a fence.
