We sent a strong team to Fakenham yesterday, with five runners on the afternoon, and we were rewarded with three winners!

Fakenham always put up excellent prize-money so though the field sizes were small, the races were competitive and it was therefore very pleasing to see My Moment, Bottman and Saute all get their heads in front.

My Moment has put in some good efforts since being purchased by Middleham Park Racing in May, placing twice in his last three runs, and he gained reward for those performances with a good front-running display to win the class 3 handicap chase under Richard Johnson.

Richard went on to complete a quick double on Bottman, who was making his reappearance and debut over fences, having proved himself a decent novice hurdler last season. He was a little novicey at some of his fences but it was a very promising performance and he really seemed to enjoy the experience. He could prove capable of coping with a steup up in class next time and is an exciting prospect for the season ahead.

Our final winner of the afternoon has been a revelation since joining the yard, with this win being Saute’s third since joining us in the summer, and off a mark of 120, 20lbs higher than his initial winning rating. He is tactically versatile and made all the running on this occasion to score by six lengths. He could well have another race in him this year but looking ahead looks sure to make up into an exciting novice chaser on good ground in the spring.
