We had runners at three meetings yesterday and, while Jeff Frost’s Power Of God unfortunately found the line coming too soon when going down by just a quarter of a length on his handicap debut at Chepstow, Explained reached it just in time to hold off a determined challenger and get off the mark on his first start over fences.

A dual bumper winner and also successful over hurdles, he has always looked the type to progress further as a chaser and, having jumped well throughout at Market Rasen yesterday under Michael Byrne, he found plenty up the run-in to complete the set of bumper, hurdle and chase successes.

He has a good record on a sound surface and, having had just three starts so far this term, he could well stay in for the next couple of months and there could be plenty more to come from his over the larger obstacles.
