It has been a quiet start to the 2013/14 National Hunt season with very few jumps meetings on at present, but this weekend offers up some good jumping action.

We have three entered in Haydock’s Long Distance handicap hurdle.  First Fandango has done tremendously well since reverting to hurdling and, providing the ground stays on the firm side of good, he is a definite runner.  Destroyer Deployed, who went so close to victory at Cheltenham last time, will only take his chance if there is rain, while Ballyrock, who returned with a promising effort at Ascot last time, is also a possible for the 3m contest.
Gallox Bridge is entered in the valuable 2m4f handicap chase at Haydock but is also in at Worcester and I will speak to his owner David Fox before deciding where he goes.  A winner over fences at Market Rasen in February, he is fairly-treated off a mark of 128 and a sound surface would be in his favour.
Explained and Minella For Party could go to Kempton Park on Sunday, where we may also run Western Prize in the novice hurdle.  Rated 89 on the flat, he looked a thorough stayer in that sphere and is the type to make up into a useful novice this season.
