Though now entering the veteran stage, Duneen Point has had only 19 starts and, on his first start for six months at Taunton yesterday, he produced a career-best effort to win the 2m7f handicap chase under Richard Johnson.

It was a poignant win, as Duneen Point runs in the colours of Robin Clay, whose father Glynne very sadly passed away last week.  A great supporter of Welsh racing, Glynne rode in point-to-points, trained as a permit holder (including a runner-up in the Welsh National) and was chairman of Chepstow racecourse for 18 years until his retirement in 2000.

Glynne also enjoyed plenty of success as an owner, including Observer Corps winning the Cathcart at Cheltenham in 1989 at odds of 66-1, beating a certain Norton’s Coin into second!  He will be greatly missed by the racing community in Wales and beyond.
