Dovils Date has been in fine fettle over hurdles of late, winning twice at Taunton and Newton Abbot, and he continued his rich vein of form with an impressive all-the-way success in a 1m6f handicap back on the flat at Lingfield Park yesterday.

Given a good front-running ride by David Probert, they went a steady gallop and, though briefly threatened in the final couple of furlongs by the eventual runner-up, Dovils Date responded very well to pressure, eventually drawing clear to win by six lengths.

Though the handicapper will now have his say, Dovils Date should still be very competitive off his revised mark, while we will also look to have him in a couple of good prizes over hurdles this summer.
