PHOTO-2019-05-18-18-02-59Dovils Date has been in our yard for as long as I can remember (having looked it up, he joined us in the autumn of 2012) and, as well as being a huge favourite with us all, he has contributed 10 wins in that time, the latest of them coming at Uttoxeter yesterday under a good ride from Charlie Price.

Though he is now into the veteran stage, he retains all his enthusiasm for racing and, having travelled really well off what was a career-low mark and running in a 0-100 for just the second time, he stayed on really gamely up the straight to get the better of the runner-up after what had been a prolonged duel.

The pair drew 28 lengths clear of the third, but given both are 10 year olds, it is hoped the handicapper will display some leniency!  We’ll give him a couple of weeks before his next run and it would be lovely to see him add further to his wonderful tally for us.  I’m delighted for his owners in the Itsfuninit syndicate, most of whom are based close to Uttoxeter, so it was a very popular win!
