We took two runners on the long journey to Newcastle, but that journey proved justified as both William Money and Chakisto won in great style.
William Money (pictured right) had run very well when second on his first start for us at Chepstow last month and, with that run under his belt, he made no mistake at the second time of asking, making all the running and drawing clear up the home straight for a bloodless success.
The handicapper will no doubt exact his revenge, so we’ll look to run him under a penalty next week, with Wetherby on Tuesday or Ludlow on Wednesday the likeliest options. He’s a lovely individual, with an excellent attitude, and hopefully there is more to come.
Chakisto had joined us a 28-race maiden, but a win in October at the 30th attempt has seen him gain considerable confidence and, given a wonderful, patient ride by Alan Johns, he came home a ready winner for owners Flat Out Shinton Racing, for whom he was running for the first time.
Derek Shinton has been a tremendous supporter of ours for many years and we were delighted to see Chakisto home in his colours, having taken him on since his win at Wincanton on Boxing Day.
He could go to Sedgefield next week, but we’ll wait to see what the handicapper does before making any plans.
