Ifan must be one of the most consistent horses in training at present and, having come into yesterday’s race with form figures on the flat of 21222221 since joining the yard at the beginning of last year, he recorded a second consecutive win.
Stepped up to 1m2f for the first time, Daniel Muscutt wisely sent him to the front given the lack of pace in the contest, but he was headed two furlongs from home and looked an unlikely winner.
However, he is a tremendously game individual and he battled back under a strong ride to hold the eventual runner-up by a head.  Given the narrow margin of victory, he is unlikely to be dealt more than a 2-3lbs rise and there could be plenty more to come from him.  Congratulations to his owners WRB Racing and Derek and Jean Clee.
