Michael Byrne and Chilbury Hill jumping the last at Towcester

We sent two to Towcester yesterday and I was very pleased with the efforts of both, with Chilbury Hill’s win in the selling hurdle under Michael Byrne providing the yard with our 80th winner of the 2012/13 NH campaign!

Third on his debut for us at Fontwell Park on Boxing Day, he was unsuited by the very heavy ground that day and, though conditions were wintery at Towcester yesterday, they did appear to be getting home alright.  Always travelling kindly, Michael sent him out two out and he won comfortably for owners Brian Jones and Nick Wright, who were there to celebrate!  Depending on how the handicapper reacts, we may look to run him under a penalty in the next ten days.

Duneen Point was having his first start for the Mirror Punters Club and he came close to giving them a winner to celebrate, going down by just over a length in the 3m handicap hurdle.  Better ground and a more galloping track will definitely help him and he remains on a mark off which he can be very competitive in the coming months.
