I had anticipated a quiet Boxing Day’s racing as, at the declaration stage on the 23rd, the majority of the courses appeared to be under water!  However, thankfully they managed to do a terrific job in ensuring racing could go ahead at eight of the nine National Hunt meetings.

Duneen Point got us off to the perfect start to the day with a battling success at Fontwell Park under Michael Byrne.  Though it was, admittedly, a very modest handicap hurdle, it represented a welcome return to form and hopefully he can gain confidence from what was an overdue maiden career success.
Having jumped poorly on his latest start at Folkestone, Landenstown Star produced a much more accomplished round at Ffos Las yesterday en route to an ultimately facile success in the 2m5f handicap chase, a race we won last year with Paradise Expected.  That win was a first for owner Wayne Jones, so many congratulations to him!
