I am really pleased with how the horses are running at present and was delighted to see Bells of Berlin get off the mark in great style at Newton Abbot yesterday.

A late-maturing sort off the flat, he clearly appreciated the step up to 2m4f and, with the help of a visor for the first tie over hurdles, he travelled well and put the race to bed in the style of a horse that could prove capable of defying a rise in the weights next time out.  I am delighted for his owners Steve Grys and Mick o’Boyle, and for jockey Jason Kiely, for whom this was a fifth career winner.
