Ballyrock has been in great form since switching back to hurdles in the spring and, having gone very close at Ffos Las in what was a very competitive seller on his latest outing, he returned to the winners’ enclosure yesterday with a facile success at Hexham.

In front from the second flight, George Blackwell dictated a sensible pace and, bar one mistake at the second-last, Ballyrock hurdled very fluently and came clear up the home straight to win by 17 lengths.

There aren’t any more races in that grade for him now, so we’ll look to return him to handicap company, and hopefully he can be very competitive off his mark of 119.  Congratulations to his owner Dave Pearn!
